Latter day Saint Movement

As man started to learn new things, he formalized his own community into groups with the aim of uniting people of same thoughts. Religion is one of the important characteristics that determine the human faith and beliefs. Every religion has their expressions in their own way. Groups and subgroups of every religion are classified based on the type of faith, customs and traditions. Mormon religious hierarchy is one of the branches in Christianity. It is a blend of religion and culture followed by people who belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. It was during April 1830 in Western New York, when the Latter day Saint Movement and Mormonism came into existence.

Presidency and Counselors
Mormon religion is a hierarchical system, who believed in Jesus Christ as their God. Hence, the Church is considered as their prime religious place, from where the hierarchy begins. Church is monitored by General Authorities who are also the higher level members. The Mormons Church is controlled by a President. Next in turn are the counselors who assist the President. The team of President and the Counselors is called the First Presidency. The Mormons believe in the modern thoughts and hence consider the President as the representative who can speak directly with GOD. These authorities are the deciding power for anything concerning the Church; they also have the full influence to finalize on the rules and regulations of the Church.

Twelve Apostles
The second authority team in Mormon religious hierarchy is the Twelve Apostles. They bear the responsibility to monitor certain programs like missionary program or maintenance of Church. The Twelve Apostles are considered as particular bystanders of Jesus Chris.

The first and second Quorum
They follow the Quorum of Apostles and consist of First and Second Quorum of the Seventy. These members of the first and second Quorum work under the instructions of the Apostles and look after the Church’s local lay leaders.

Whereas, the first and second Quorum are overlooked by the Presidency containing a group of seven men who in turn work full time for the Church related activities. The Quorum, in turn representing as Church people take care of the regions like Utah, West part of Africa which comes under the power regime of the Church. The members of the First Presidency, Quorum of Twelve Apostles, and First and Second Quorum all together work full time for the Church and The next level of Stake Presidency will be selected by them.

The Stake Presidency
The Stake Presidency is the next hierarchical level of the Mormon religion it consists of the President, First Counselor and the Second Counselor. They monitor the local unit of Church which comprises about 600 people called Wards. Wards are then presided over by the Bishops who in turn take care of the welfare activities like collection and distribution of funds to the poor people.

Women Mormons
Each Ward will have Relief Society President who along with two counselors looks after the teaching and guidance to Female Mormons. The duty of the Women Mormons is to monitor the Primary or children organization and the Mutual or Young Women’s Organization.
